Kermode Winery
Although not located in Harrison Mills, the award-winning Kermode Winery is in Deroche, which is a 15 minute drive east from Harrison Mills. Kermode, meaning ‘Spirit Bear’, makes wine using wild berries from local forests—ranging from blueberries to rose hips.
The concept came from the Sprieszl brothers and current owners, Fritz and Bob Sprieszl, who decided to make wine using wild berries. It is estimated that there at least 30 different edible berries in B.C. So far, they have made wine with a third. Styles range from dry table wines to sweet ports and fortified liqueurs.
